So, you have decided to visit Liverpool for the very first time and boy are you in for a treat!

1. Take a Ride on the Razzle Dazzle
You just have to take a trip on a Mersey ferry when you visit Liverpool – especially know they’ve been a little-jazzed up. The Razzle Dazzle ferries are literally one of most colourful attractions in Liverpool – as the Mersey ferry Snowdrop has undergone a colourful new design by none other than Sir Peter Blake.
Why the jazzy colours? It is in honour of the dazzle ships that was used on vessels during WWI to baffle the enemy. The unusual design made it difficult for the enemy to estimate the ship’s size, speed or direction, and so sail the seas with little danger. The Everybody Razzle Dazzle ferry is the only operating dazzle ship in the country until December 2016.
2. Visit The Albert Dock
The Albert Dock was the world’s first non-combustible warehouse system, and allowed ships to easily load and unload to and from the warehouses, storing everything from brandy and tea to tobacco and sugar. Now, the Albert Dock offers some of the finest shops, restaurants, bars and attractions in the city, including the Merseyside Maritime Museum and The Beatles Story. Watch the boats coming in and out the dock and breath in the fresh Liverpool air, and take a short walk to other nearby attractions, such as the Echo Arena and the Wheel of Liverpool.
3. Breathe in Crosby Beach
Crosby Beach is different to any other beach in the world. It contains amazing works of art that transforms the landscape. Antony Gormley’s Another Place at Crosby Beach has to be seen to be believed. Whether the sun is shining or the rain is pouring when you visit Liverpool you are bound to be blown away by the magnificent cast-iron men spread out across the beach, which are all based on the artist’s body.
4. Get a Snap With the John Lennon Stat
People from all corners of the planet visit Liverpool to experience the many Fab Four attractions on offer in the city. One thing that should most definitely be at the top of a Beatles fan’s bucket list is taking a snap with the John Lennon Statue on Mathew Street. Located outside the iconic Cavern Club – the venue that launched the band’s career – you can take a photograph with the statue before heading inside to listen to some great music.
5. Eat All You Can in Chinatown
Chinatown is home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe, and was the first chinatown established in the continent. It’s definitely worth taking a trip through Chinatown to experience the amazing Chinese restaurants, takeaways and Chinese supermarkets. The impressive Chinatown arch is worth a trip itself!
6. Experience Culture in the Bombed Out Church
St Luke’s Church – locally known as the Bombed Out Church – is a former Anglican parish church that now stands as a ruin. Built between 1811 to 1832, the church was badly damaged during the Liverpool Blitz 1941, and now stands as a memorial to the lives lost during the Second World War.
The Bombed Out Church regularly hosts a variety of fantastic events and exhibitions. You can enjoy everything from musical events to film showings. It’s worth taking a look at the St Luke’s Church calendar when in the city to experience this remarkable roofless ruin.
7. The Beautiful Three Graces
The Three Graces are an iconic part of Liverpool’s skyline and history. Located on the city’s waterfront, the Three Graces comprises of the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool – and are a symbol of the city’s extensive maritime history.
8. Step Inside Liverpool’s Cathedrals
When it comes to incredible cathedrals, Liverpool is hard to beat.
When you visit Liverpool the Anglican Cathedral is a must see. The longest cathedral in the world at 207 yards and the fifth largest cathedral in the world is a sight to behold. The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral should also not be overlooked, as its circular stained glass interior is breathtaking.
9. Shop ‘Til You Drop at Liverpool One
If you want to shop until you drop, visit Liverpool One in the city centre. Here you’ll find popular high street shops, luxury stores and independent boutiques. You can also dine in some of the many restaurants located in the open-air shopping centre, or watch a movie at the Odeon Cinema.
