2. A Historic Journey
Signature Living’s hotel owners, Lawrence and Katie Kenwright, fell head over heels in love with Albion House, which was originally the White Star Line’s Headquarters, and RMS Titanic’s port of registry. In addition to offering an intriguing story, the building is simply breathtaking, with high ceilings and a magnificent White Star Grand Hall. Designed by Richard Norman Shaw and J. Francis Doyle, Katie and Lawrence wanted to restore the derelict to its former glory, allowing the public to experience its history and beauty in one visit – and so 30 James Street – Home of the Titanic was born!
Opening in March 2014, the temporary walls were removed and the building was restored and renovated to offer city centre accommodation in the luxurious Titanic-themed hotel. Each room within the hotel is inspired by an RMS Titanic passenger or a connection to the world-famous shipping company, offering each guest a unique experience each night.
