Liverpool Fashion Week
When: October 2017
The question on the LFW opening web page is “why do designers and the fashion elite flock to London when the most creative and diverse talent is often launched from Liverpool fashion week?”
As a city recognised for its trend-setting nature Liverpool seems the ideal home for the UK’s most successful fashion shows.
The fashion heritage that London carries outweighs that of Liverpool’s however over the past few years Liverpool is quickly becoming a city recognised for its fashion talents. The likes of Phillip Armstrong, Mark Melia and Miss Francesca Couture are among the most well-known names in fashion to hail from Liverpool.
Not only is LFW showcasing the best of up and coming new talent, the organisers also promote strong ethics that should be recognised across the business.
Going hand in hand with the Curve Fashion festival Liverpool Fashion week works with designers and models to promote and encourage individuality and healthy body image.
Fur is banned from the runways, as are models who use sunbeds. The salon in charge of styling at the show has also applied for his Liverpool-based salon to be PETA approved in an effort to improve the fashion industries responsibility to the care of animals.
The belief of all those involved in Liverpool fashion week is that it is important to remain ethical whilst working in fashion. As we can see this sort of ethos is having a positive effect with the audience of LFW only growing in numbers.
