Top 10 Things to Look Out For at International Beatles Week in Liverpool

Calling all Beatles fans! From 22nd to 28th August, International Beatles Week is returning to Liverpool to celebrate all things dedicated to The Fab Four.

Amazing acts from around the globe will be paying tribute to the greatest band on earth, with celebrations set to take over a whole host of Liverpool’s best music venues.

1. Start at the Beginning – The Cavern Club

When: Wednesday 22nd August from 10am onwards

This year’s International Beatles Week starts in the place where it all began, The Cavern Club. You and your friends and family can enjoy a whole day of rock n’ roll across three stage between the Cavern Club and the Cavern Pub. It’s the perfect way to kick start the Beatles themed celebrations.

2. Celebrate George’s birthday 

When: Friday 24th August from 12pm – 6pm

Next up is a big birthday bash for the one and only George Harrison. This year, he would have been 75 years old and to mark the occasion, each band on the bill will play a tribute to him throughout the afternoon, ending with a special finale. This fabulous event will be hosted in Liverpool’s best loved bar and restaurant, Alma de Cuba, with live music continuing outside on the patio stage.

3. Beatles Boogie for Little Rock Stars

When: Sunday 19th August from 11am

Starting off the Beatles celebrations slightly early, Camp and Furnace are hosting a fantastically fun Little Rock Stars Disco for all those tots who love The Fab Four! Alongside plenty of Fab Four songs, little ones can enjoy an arts and crafts table, face painting, soft play, a dance-floor parachute, bubbles, balloons and a whole lot more. Adults can also enjoy a fully licensed bar as well as tea, coffee and other refreshments.

4. Explore Scouschella 

When: Monday 27 August from 12pm – 6pm

A new event for 2018, International Beatles Week will be paying tribute to Sir Paul McCartney’s outstanding 2016 Coachella performance with its very own Scouschella, set in Grand Central Hall. Mirroring the amazing show, there will be special tributes to music icons Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Neil Young and Roger Waters.

5. Party Nights at The Adelphi 

When: 24th – 27th August from 11pm

Each and every night from Friday 24th August to the Monday, the Adelphi will be hosting a series of late night parties until 5am! Showcasing live music and bringing fans together to celebrate all things Beatles, festival goers will also have the chance to sing or play a song of their choice on the famous ‘Apple Jam’ stage.

6. Early Days at The Locarno

When: Saturday 25th August from 12pm – 6pm

The traditional day out for this year’s International Beatles Week is a step back in time at The Olympia, formerly known as the Locarno Ballroom. On Valentine’s Day in 1963, The Beatles played a spectacular show at this venue and festival organisers wanted to take a unique look back at this famous and iconic performance.

7. The White Album Anniversary 

When: Friday 24th August from 8pm

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of The White Album, Holland’s premier Beatles band The Analogues will take to the stage at Liverpool’s famous Philharmonic Hall to play the outstanding album in its entirety. This is a must-see event during International Beatles Week.

8. Beatles Tribute Cruises

When: Saturday 25th August

Ever dreamed of floating along the River Mersey whilst listening to some classic Beatles songs? Well now you can, with Liverpool’s Beatles Tribute Cruises. Enjoy fantastic performances by local cover bands as you sail over the water, taking in the glorious view of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront. The cruise will include a fully licensed bar, with hot and cold refreshments available.

9. The Annual Beatles Convention 

When: Sunday 26th August from 10am onwards

Over the course of International Beatles Week, there is always a Beatles Convention which is a must visit for any self confessed Beatles fan. The Adelphi will play host to live music, films, Ringo Bingo and a flea market of unmissable memorabilia. Plus, there will be special guest speakers including the one and only Pattie Boyd alongside Freda Kelly, Tony Bramwell and Joey Molland.

10. The Fab Four Finale 

When: Monday 27th August from 6pm

International Beatles Week ends on a massive high note with a big finale, hosted in the luxurious Hard Day’s Night Hotel. Make the most of the last hours of the festival and enjoy some brilliant live music across 4 stages. It’s the ideal way to end a truly fabulous week of Beatlemania!
