The Ultimate Guide to Liverpool Pride 2018

Get ready to be dazzled: Liverpool’s Pride Weekend is returning on 28-29 July 2018.

From incredible music acts to beautiful building illuminations, the streets of the city are set to be painted rainbow colours as the extravagant festivities return to Liverpool.

At Signature Living, we couldn’t be more excited for the celebrations to begin. Here’s our ultimate guide to Liverpool Pride 2018, including what’s on and where to stay for the celebrations.

What’s On: Liverpool Pride 2018

The iconic Liverpool Pride march will take place at midday on Saturday 29 July, with crowds gathering from 11am at St George’s Plateau for a feel-good weekend like no other.

The dazzling display of solidarity will wind its way around the city towards TIthebarn Street. At the end of the march awaits an afternoon of live music and performance.

This year’s theme is #AllTogetherNow, a rallying call for the LGBT+ community and its allies to stand together as one against prejudice and hate.

Who’s Playing?

Saturday’s line-up in full of spectacular acts, including headliner Sophie-Ellis Bextor (of Murder on the Dancefloor fame).

International drag sensation and winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2018, Courtney Act, will also be performing as well as  the cast of Kinky Boots, Osvaldo Supino, Lots Holloway, Madonna tribute Melissa Totten and many others.

And on the Manchester Airport San Francisco stage a jam-packed mix of queer cabaret will be running all afternoon, curated by Liverpool Queer Collective.

On 29 July, the city will be taken over by Pride Sundae – 24 hours of dance, music, food and fun across Liverpool. More information is set to be announced on this!

Anything Else?

Lots! Between 19 July and 2 August, look out for rainbow-lit buildings across the city as Come Out Of The Shadows shines a light on diversity in Liverpool. Prominent buildings will be illuminated with the colours of Pride as a sign of solidarity with the LGBT+ community and to raise awareness of hate crime. Keep an eye on St George’s Hall, Liverpool Central Library, FACT and loads of other landmarks across the city.

Pride at the Pictures will be screening two LGBT+ films this summer. All About My Mother is being shown at FACT on 23 July from 6:30pm and Divine Divas will be screened at Output Gallery on Seel Street on 30 July.

Ruby Slippers, the musical that follows the struggles of a cabaret drag club in Blackpool, is heading to the Royal Court between 24-28 July, while the strictly adult-only Queertet hits the stage at The Casa on 26 and 27 July.

A quieter moment of commemoration will also be happening on 2 August at Temple Square Gardens from 6pm. The Michael Causer Vigil will remember the death of the 18 year old, whose life was taken just because he was gay. This year marks the 10th anniversary of his death and Pride visitors are being asked to go along and show their support for his family.
