Signature Living Guide to What’s On Liverpool in April

Spring is kicking off the warmer months of 2017 with a bang in Liverpool. The month of April is jam packed with some awesome events and we’ve rounded up a few of the best to make sure you don’t miss out on a thing. Here’s what Liverpool in April has in store for you guys;

Grand National Weekend

An event that is celebrated as a national holiday in Liverpool is Grand National Weekend.

Grand National weekend begins on the 6th and ends on the 8th with Ladies Day sandwiched nicely in between.

Get your glad rags on and come to Liverpool for what is known as one of the greatest events of the year.

Ghost Hunt at Newsham Park Hospital

Throughout April visitors to Liverpool can take a truly terrifying trip around an old abandoned orphanage turned hospital said to be rife with supernatural activity.

Reports of security staff and workmen who have entered the building have included hearing distant voices, seeing shadowy figures and items going missing then resurfacing in another part of the building.

Dating back to the Victorian era when cruel experimental treatments were carried out in the name of scientific advancement, the hospital has a decidedly eerie feel to it.

See if you can brave a night on a Newsham Park Ghost Hunt on your visit to Liverpool in April.

Tours are taking place throughout the month and tickets are £59 per person.

Mouvement

Grab your dancing shoes for a night where boogie nights meets deep house at 24 Kitchen Street’s Mouvement.

A range of disco vibes will be pumped out all evening successfully blended with the sounds of deep house to keep everyone on the dance floor until closing time.

Those responsible for this unique disco & house party are none other than James Morgan and Jimmy Allen who are known for hosting numerous Hustle nights in the city as well as the famous Liverpool Disco Festival.

Let Night Fever take control on April the 8th at 24 Kitchen Street.

Speed Dating

Liverpool is a great city for meeting people. Your average friendly neighbourhood Scouser is easy to talk to, loves a laugh and is ready to show you the best sights and sound of their beloved city.

What better way to meet your dream Scouser than by heading to a Speed Dating session at District House on the 13th April.

Organised by North West Leading Speed dating company, Fast Love, your speed dating session will consist of up to 25 fun-filled three minute dates.

A fabulous, flirty evening spent meeting strangers and perhaps getting to know a super special Scouser who’s meant for you.

Witty Committee Marie Curie Fundraiser

Help a good cause and have a laugh at Witty Committee enjoying 6 superb comedy acts taking to the stage at Hot Water Comedy Club on the 4th April.

The event is free with a pay what you feel policy on the door, so dig deep and empty those pockets to raise funds in support of the amazing service Marie Curie nurses provide those in need.

Cream presents Timmy Trumpet

If you like the smooth sounds of a jazzy trumpet and enjoy yourself a little house music too then Timmy Trumpet is the guy for you.

His amazing tunes are a marvellous blend of his skills as a jazz instrumentalist and a global DJ who’s graced the stages of the biggest dance music venues across the globe.

Timmy Trumpets performance at the O2 Academy on the 15th of April will be a night you do not want to miss.

Prom Spring Break

To celebrate the arrival of the warmer weather Camp and Furnace are putting on a super Spring Break party on the 15th of April and we’re all invited.

In true all-American Spring Break Style, there will be a cheesy 80’s fancy dress theme, the crowning of a Prom King and Queen, limbo contests and a buffet complete with a punch bowl.

Music for the evening will be a selection of the finest 80’s chart-topping hits and the event will be Liverpool’s way of welcoming in the spring with a splash.

 Circo

There’s been a clown shaped hole left at Albert Dock since Circo departed for greener pastures but we are delighted to announce that Circo will soon be returning to Liverpool in April.

On the 21st of April, the Circo team will be coming back to town with an open evening that the city shall never forget.

Welcome back the grand dinner shows complete with unforgettable circus-style performances, delicious meals and amazing drinks.

Circo has been missing for far too long but now they’re back we cannot wait.

Cream Live at Liverpool Cathedral

A Liverpool institution that was sadly obliterated from the city in April 2016, Cream still makes occasional appearances in Liverpool festivals and live music venues.

On the 21st and 22nd of April, Cream will be coming to the masses live from Liverpool Cathedral. The night will be filled with the soundtrack of a generation performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra from the most iconic structure on the city skyline.

A delightful mix of old meets new as the orchestra, formed in 1840, take on dance music hits from the last two decades and perform them in a breath-taking arena with unmatched acoustics.

Come and experience Liverpool’s Cream classics like you’ve never heard them before at Liverpool Cathedral on the 21st and 22nd of April.

Independent Spring Gin Festival

Join the Gin loving masses at Liverpool’s Baltic Warehouse on the 29th as Independent Liverpool bring to you a paradise built upon the drink made from the sweet berries of Juniper.

For a full-on Gin experience, Liverpool is the best city for it. Heck, we even have our very own Liverpool Gin.

This along with over 100 other worldly Gin’s will make up the perfect day visiting Liverpool in April for the connoisseurs and novices of Gin drinkers alike.

Of course, being an Independent Liverpool event you can expect live music in the form of jazz bands and disco DJ’s. There will even be some delicious food from Liverpool’s favourite independent eateries served throughout the day.

A festival worthy of the name is Liverpool’s Independent Spring Gin Festival. Make sure you are there.

The Kooks

It’s hard to believe that The Kooks have been on the mainstream music scene for well over a decade now. Their chart-topping hits such as “You don’t love me” in 2006, “She Moves in her own way” and “Shine On” are just a few of the songs that served as a soundtrack to many of our summers.

Now, to welcome Spring back to Liverpool, The Kooks will be performing live at Liverpool’s Olympia on the 29th of April. The Olympia is a historic venue in Liverpool’s history that has hosted live concerts, fashion shows and club nights for over 70 years.

The Kooks will take to the iconic stage and perform their latest tracks and some golden oldies sure to get the crowd singing along.

And there you have it, folks, a full month of amazing live music, fabulous drinking events and the odd theme night throw in for good measure.
