Signature Living Sponsors Open House Event

Signature Living has proudly sponsored a project helping Open House and the homeless in Liverpool receive a free meal, shower and career advice.

Open House is an initiative which aims to help those who are homeless, sleeping rough or in hostels make the next step towards a better future.

100 women and men were invited to the City of Liverpool College who opened their doors early to offer breakfast & lunch, haircuts, showers and much more to those in need.

Signature Living’s head chef, Matt was on hand to help in the kitchen and help the students cook up fresh and hearty meals. Hairdressing students were there to offer haircuts free of charge, as well as massages and manicures available which were also provided by students of the college.

The day was organised to offer support to those who need it most with experts on hand to offer supportive and practical advice on issues such as counselling, financial support, healthcare and even job opportunities from local employers.

Organiser Melanie Williams who is the manager of enterprise and engagement at the City of Liverpool College promised; “This event is not a one-off.”

Donations were welcomed and a huge amount of clothing, toiletries, books and camping gear was donated by the very kind people of Liverpool and beyond. A number of volunteers also turned up to help on the Open House day which is a true testament to the people of Liverpool.

Signature Living co-founder Lawrence Kenwright said: “We are proud to be teaming up with City of Liverpool College on this important initiative.

“As a company that cares about our community, we have committed a lot to supporting people faced with homelessness because it is an issue anyone can face at any time.”

For those who had dogs with them, a special ‘Dog Hotel’ was set up outside where the rough sleeping pooches could also receive a special pamper and grooming from Merlin Dog Training.

One of the homeless visitors was Paul who has been living on the streets for three years.

The 22-year-old spoke to the Liverpool Echo and said: “It’s been really good to come here and it has given us a place to go and get off the streets.

“I’ve asked about counselling and I want to be put forward for some courses, too, to turn my life around. A lot of clothes, toiletries and other stuff has been donated and it shows that people really do care about the homeless to try and help.”

We were very proud to be a part of this Open House event which could make such a huge difference in someone’s life.
