History of RMS Titanic

The Titanic

On 15th April 1912, at 2.20 am, the Titanic sank beneath the Atlantic Ocean after being struck by an iceberg en route to New York. Of the 2223 passengers aboard only 31.6% survived the disaster. Here at Signature Living, we have gained a piece of this iconic story.

Following the purchase of Albion House, the Signature Team have been working in order to convey this story of the ‘unsinkable’ ship that encountered such loss and tragedy. The Titanic, famous for more than just a film starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, set sail from Belfast on 2nd April 1912 and ended its infamous journey just 13 days later. It would have been impossible to orchestrate such a voyage without the headquarters of the White Star company, our new acquisition, Albion House. The building as used to read the lists of the deceased from the balconies, therefore the building of the Titanic leaves an impressive historical impression.

Having such an impressive building in our repertoire of apart-hotels in the city of Liverpool both visually and historically means that Signature Living will have to give our guests a unique experience, unable to be fulfilled by any other hotel in the world. Gaining the Titanic building will give us the rare opportunity to preserve the legacy of the Titanic whilst delivering the service you have come to expect from Signature Living, which has recently been given the accolade of being the number one hotel in Liverpool, according to Trip Advisor.

According to a crew member of the Titanic, ‘God himself could not sink this ship!’, we all know by now that this was not the case and the ship did fall to its demise. However we feel that the Titanic was a feat of engineering for the time, just as our hotel will be a success and an excellent addition to what is already an amazing selection of accommodations throughout the city of Liverpool.

Having recently acquired such an iconic building, Signature Living is planning to reinvent the White Star building into a Titanic themed hotel named 30 James Street which is expected to be open in April 2014.
